ABSTRACT
In 1982/83 a random sample of residents of Liverpool aged 65 years and over were interviewed. This year 0 survey was designed to produce a cohort for longitudinal study. The aims of the study include:
Assessment of the outcome of mental illness in the elderly including course and prognosis.
The identification of factors which may predict or identify the early onset of dementia.
