ABSTRACT

This chapter introduces the reader to helpful contextual knowledge about the chapters included in this volume. It outlines the core ideas and theoretical framework for the design of a masters-level module on Lesson Study for practising teachers. Participating teachers conduct a collaborative Lesson Study with colleagues in their organisation and engage with tools such as Variation Theory and the Process Model. These teachers integrate the theory and practice of Lesson Study to develop innovatory pedagogies in their classrooms and educational organisations.
