ABSTRACT

Part 3 further explores the impact of the Module within different educational settings in the region: an early years setting, a secondary academy, an independent school, a Further Education college and a primary school. The authors of the chapters in Part 3 had all completed the UEA Lesson Study Module. Chapter 5 is a case study of the Lesson Study cycles conducted by Sarah Riley and her colleague focusing on developing communication skills in the early years. In Chapter 6, Aimee Leggoe and her colleague explore engagement and progress in the online classroom. In Chapter 7, Adam Sayer discusses the use of Lesson Study in developing pupils’ critical thinking in History within the context of an independent school. In Chapter 8, Lauren Stroud explores communication with employers in Further Education and in Chapter 9, Melissa Agnew explores teaching grammar in a primary school setting through Learning Study. Maria Grimmer, a primary headteacher, shares her Lesson Study experiences alongside a team of colleagues and co-researchers in Chapter 10 investigating art and creativity in Year 4 (8–9-year-olds). In Chapter 11, Professor John Elliott and Vicky Christoforatou conclude Part 3 with an analysis of the major themes that have emerged from the professional learning narratives generated by participating teachers about their experiences on the module.
