ABSTRACT
This chapter assesses Hume’s impact on subsequent philosophy of science and scientific tradition. It surveys Humean themes in nineteenth- and twentieth-century philosophy of science, then shows that Hume’s input is visible not only on epistemic disquisitions of science but also on science itself. To that end, it examines parts of Hume’s works that Darwin and Einstein found useful to their groundbreaking scientific theories.
