ABSTRACT

A body of rigorous research provides convincing evidence that interventions that partner families and educators to coordinate implementation across home and school settings benefit children, families, and schools. Family–school partnership interventions may be most effective when implemented within a tiered system of support intensity. Schoolwide approaches build foundational conditions that support more intensive Tier 2 and Tier 3 interventions, which include collaborative problem solving. Developmental considerations, cultural responsiveness, and school and family factors must be taken into account when building, implementing, and evaluating tiered approaches to family–school partnerships.
