ABSTRACT
The area where Swabian is spoken today takes in the eastern part of Baden-Württemberg and the western part of Bavaria as far as Augsburg. Geographically the area is bordered in the east by the river Lech and in the west by the massif of the Black Forest. In the north and south there are no clear natural boundaries.
