ABSTRACT

Pfälzisch, together with Lothringisch and Hessian, is classified by the DSA as a dialect of Rhine Franconian, which, with Central Franconian, makes up the West Central German dialect area. Pfälzisch has the following linguistic boundaries (the Pfälzisch forms are second):

(1) dat /das (NHG das); (2) fest/fescht (NHG fest)\ (3) apfel/appel (NHG Apfel); (4) hus/haus (NHG Haus).
