ABSTRACT

Brunner and Taoka (1977) conducted a survey in 1975 in which they studied American business people’s perceptions of marketing and negotiating in the People’s Republic of China (PRC). It was a comprehensive review of various aspects of US–China business, based on the experience of American business people who attended the 1975 Canton Fair. They predicted that there would be increasing business opportunities between the two countries, although the US–China trade at that time was limited in both volume and value. They were absolutely correct in their prediction, and their study results remain as an important reference point to facilitate mutual understanding between the two countries.
