ABSTRACT

The position of theatre in the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg is unusual as a result of its geographical situation (2,590 square kilometres or 999 square miles landlocked between Belgium, France and Germany), its cosmopolitan population of some 400,000 and its obligatory trilingualism (Letzeburgesch, French and German). The country uses Letzeburgesch in its everyday business, but the influence of French and Germanic culture is enormous.
