ABSTRACT

The countries of the Middle East between them share a number of different climatic regimes. As in geomorphology in which there is no typical assemblage of landforms, so in climate there is not one characteristic data set for pressure, temperature, precipitation and related variables. Furthermore, not only are there climatic variations from area to area within the region but it is clear that there have been major changes through time. Indeed, climatic change has become a focus of research over recent decades although the emphasis has been on Europe and North America.
