ABSTRACT

The aim of this book is to provide an introduction to gender studies in economics. Currently, this is a rapidly expanding field, and textbooks are urgently necessary. Part I covers important theories, Part II gives an overview of the economic situation of men and women in practice, and Part III examines policies to improve the relative economic situation of women, in particular, affirmative action and comparable worth policies. This book is the first of its kind to take a particularly European perspective.
