ABSTRACT

The community of coloured folk with which we are concerned lives in the dock area of Cardiff, in the district known as Bute Town. The greater part of them are to be found in the southern half of the Adamsdown Ward of the city, but a further representative section lives in the adjacent South Ward. There are a few more coloured families in the centre of the city area, and a few live in other working-class districts, such as Splott, or in suburbs, such as Cathays and Roath. Taking the city as a whole, however, it would probably be true to say that some 95 per cent, live in the special area indicated on the map (facing p. 1).
