ABSTRACT
W Hen the research was originally planned it had been intended that the groups should remain constant for the entire period of the investigation. It was soon realised, however, that this procedure would be psychologically unsound, since group life was by its very nature dynamic and changing. The girls were therefore assured at a very early stage in the experiment that they would be free to change their grouping whenever they wished to do so.
