ABSTRACT
ON REFLECTION I can discern four sources of my knowledge about the impact of war-time conditions on the life and development of the child. Early in the World War of 1914-18, we began, in Vienna, to collect children in play groups in order to keep them off the street; and this drew our attention to the impact of the then prevailing war conditions on these children.
