ABSTRACT

The social and cultural advance of man is directly related to the development of personality. Man has achieved only a limited awareness of himself as personality. Present-day psychology attempts to approach the uncertainties of human existence through self-knowledge. Freud revived this ancient wisdom by looking at man mainly in his family relationships. Artistic creation is one of the highest expressions of communication. But in the creative work of the great artist, whether conveyed in words, music, colour or form no matter how infinitely varied the specific imagery may be, a universal character. The mode of communication is essentially governed by the same archetypal patterns that are at work in artistic communication. The unitary character of archetypal apperception conveys in the fullest sense a feeling of truth. It is ‘knowing’ in the deepest sense; and precisely because it is not and cannot be ‘willed’, it is an experience of true creativity.
