ABSTRACT
The object of the first phase is to get a balanced sample of the candi date's group-effectiveness in the context of his group. In the Basic Series—lasting about 2 hours—he is observed (1) in an Undirected Group Discussion aimed to project his capacity to deal with people, ideas and words, (2) in a Progressive Group Task aimed to project his capacity tó deal with people, material things and practical activities.
