Until So years ago, psychology was-as its etymology indicates -the study of the psyche: what the psyche was, no one professed to know and one could only beg that question. But the emphasis was on its cognitive aspect, on thinking and on the intellectual faculties. This approach was comparatively static and sterile and contributed little to human understanding and effort.
