ABSTRACT
This chapter will extend a discussion which began in our earlier book (Brearley et al. 1980: ch. 7) and should be read in conjunction with that chapter. It will therefore not deal in detail with a number of issues which are of direct relevance, although it is intended to be complete in itself.
