ABSTRACT
Indices now used for the analysis of marriage frequency range from the crude rate at one end of the scale to the nuptiality table at the other. The intervening “twilight continuum” is filled with refined rates which attempt to correct the inadequacies of the crude marriage rate and to approximate to the accuracy of the nuptiality table.
