Property and The Cycle of Domestic Groups in Taita

I n this essay ⁵² we shall examine the development of domestic groups among the Taita of Kenya, from the foreshadowing of a new household when a young man takes a bride to his parental homestead, through the setting up of a ‘satellite’ household which later becomes independent of control by seniors, and on through other stages to decline and extinction.
