Historical Business Records in Private Hands Surveyed by the National Register of Archives (Scotland)

the national register of archives (Scotland) was begun in 1946 to supplement the work of the National Register of Archives in London, established in the previous year under the auspices of the Historical Manuscripts Commission. The principal aim of the Scottish Register is to obtain details of manuscripts of historical interest in private hands in Scotland, and to compile a Register by which these details may be made available to research scholars.
