Historical Business Records Surveyed by the Colquhoun Lecturer and the Business Archives Council of Scotland

in 1959 the colquhoun lectureship in Business History in the University of Glasgow was founded from funds raised through an appeal sponsored by the Glasgow Chamber and Junior Chamber of Commerce. The lecturer’s first task was to make a survey of the historical business records of Glasgow and the West of Scotland. It was originally expected that such an inquiry would take about two years; in fact, the search is still in progress and collections of business records are still being discovered.
