ABSTRACT
Tommy Duncan had everything going for him when Bob Wills fired him from the Texas Playboys in the late summer of 1948. He had one of the highest profiles of any western swing performer, built on 16 years of visibility with the top band in the country. He organized a new band with some of the best sidemen in the business and within a year had a national Top 10 record. And it all went downhill from there.
