ABSTRACT

Notational analysis of sports performance has been recognised as having the capability to fill an important role in supporting the coaching process (Franks et al., 1983). Published notational analysis reports rarely give detail as to how the information generated has been used by a coach or demonstrate why the information is relevant to the coaching process. This study sought to demonstrate that notational analysis can produce relevant sport specific data on performance that can be used directly by the coach to support the coaching process. The context for the study was the England versus South Africa netball Test series in 1994.
