ABSTRACT
Over the last 10 years, with the passing of the Single European Act and the Treaty on European Union, European law has had an increasing impact on the legislative system of the UK. So, what are the functions of the European Union? How do they affect the UK? This chapter seeks to de-mystify the European Union by examining the legislative process and policies that have had an impact on the built environment.
