ABSTRACT
At the ruin of Hohenrechberg a drastic structural decay caused by the presence of moisture can be observed. Therefore, local climatic and weather conditions have been recorded. In addition, the moisture and temperature behaviour of the masonry was studied experimentally and numerically. Both the knowledge of the local environment and of the thermal and moisture characteristics of the building materials will help to understand the processes causing the damage and to find effective preservation and restoration methods.
