ABSTRACT

The publication explains the principe of a method for the determination of the serviceability of concrete and reinforced concrete structures on the basis of the analysis of measuring the state of stress and strength of concrete using the new devices BPM/M and BCM/CK developed at the Estonian Building Research Institute. According to the proposed negentropic method, any state of stress and strength at loading of a structural member in accordance with the information theory is juxtaposed by its negentropy (ordering). The maximum negentropy “negentropic capacity” corresponds to the ultimate limit state (ULS) and the negentropy at the moment of the structural examination is “negentropic charge”. Knowing those values the prediction of resources in serviceability is possible.
