ABSTRACT

Carbonation of concrete has a significant impact on durability of concrete structures. This phenomenon in deteriorating environment can play a key role for the start of reinforcement corrosion. There are different computational models to describe the carbonation of concrete, they can be used for the prediction of service life. These models are more or less accurate taking into account different sets of input variables. Uncertainties related to the variables are significant, which represents a great obstacle for a realistic deterministic prediction. The development of reliability - supported damage assessment of concrete structures is desirable.
