ABSTRACT

A damage predictive model to quantify the performance of coatings on concrete in highly-corrosive environments is developed. The model consists of three sub-models: transport, deterioration and structural. The transport sub-model couples heat, moisture and ion transport processes while the deterioration sub-model which is an assembly of the global deterioration mechanisms, is constructed from past performance and laboratory investigation. The structural sub-model is a stress model. A case study is presented to demonstrate the rationale of the proposed methodology and the predictive capabilities of the model.
