ABSTRACT

China’s security relations with its neighbours in the Asia-Pacific will be among the most important set of determinants for future stability in the region. Among the most critical flashpoints in the Asia-Pacific – the Korean peninsula, the Diaoyu/Senkaku Islands, the Taiwan Strait, the South China Sea – Chinese influence in weightily evident. There can be little doubt that China’s ability to influence the security situation in the region can only expand in the years ahead.
