ABSTRACT
Debates about China’s food security have recently been revived, albeit in a questionable way, by the dire projections of Lester Brown (Who Will Feed China? A Warning Call for a Small Planet, Washington, World Watch Institute, 1995), which predict massive imports of grain by China in the year 2030, then starving the poor countries of the world.
