ABSTRACT
Looking at well-known historical cities in the Islamic world such as Marrakesh, Cairo, Jerusalem, Baghdad, Jedda, Riyadh, Dubai, and San’a’, one can sense the diversity of their environments despite their commonalties derived from a shared historical background. This leads us to ask the inevitable question: How can one deal morphologically with architectural images in these environments despite this diversity in expression?
