ABSTRACT

The most important passage in the latter part of the Assur letter is no. 3. The king of the Arabs, who is also somehow connected with Qedar, would be YawthaY, who at this time had fled to Natnu. It is likely that we here get the patronymic of YuhaythiY, king of Shumu?il, who does not really belong to this context: he is son of Birdadda. We note that Qedar is mentioned twice in the passage: belonging to [YawthaY son of Haza?il, king of Qedarlthe Arabs] and [other] Qedarites, probably those of Ammuladin.
