ABSTRACT

It was pointed out at the end of Chapter 1 that there are languages used in Ghana that are not generally regarded as Ghanaian. Some of these are spoken by large numbers of people, and help people of different language communities to communicate with each other and with the larger world beyond Ghana's borders. In this chapter we attempt to fill out the picture of language use in Ghana that the foregoing chapters present by giving an account of the use of nonGhanaian languages in Ghana.
