ABSTRACT
This chapter focuses on the current changes that are taking place in the relationships between the state, society and the economy in a region, with emphasis on the role of social actors and movements. An attempt will be made to answer two basic questions; first, why can traditional patterns of articulation between the state, society and the economy no longer reproduce themselves, and second, what are the chances and conditions for a new democratic scene?
