ABSTRACT
I have heard it suggested that the history of the world is the history of human conflict – this being the case there must have been a journalist of sorts reporting each conflict. The military and media have long suffered mixed relations. However it is that very relationship between the two groups which holds the key to each achieving their aims during times of tension and conflict. As a military man, I could consider that my predecessors have created a rod for their own backs – as it was the military that gave us the first daily newspapers and therefore journalists.
