Welfare States and Anti-Poverty Regimes: The Case of Portugal

This article addresses the issue of comparing welfare regimes with a particular focus on poverty policies. Some reflections are made on methodology and some data are presented in order to highlight the relevant differences among the northern and southern European countries. The main features of the Portuguese case are then presented and evaluated within the context of this broader analysis.
