ABSTRACT
W ith the end of communism, and the breakup of the Soviet empire, the atmosphere of global ideological confrontation has vanished. This, in turn, has made other kinds of local ideological confrontations and ‘struggles’ (so dear to the hearts of ideologists) no longer practical, or even in keeping with the new international atmosphere.
