ABSTRACT
I shall begin by providing a brief biography and describing my role within the Labour Party. I am a party hack, and proud to be so. I have worked as a party official since 1988, and my background is in party organisation. I spent five years working as a constituency agent, not quite winning my own seat of Mitcham & Morden. 1 I have worked in Labour Party head office since 1993: initially I worked on the parliamentary boundary review, but since 1995 I have had responsibility for polling and providing in-house psephological advice, working closely with my colleague Philip Gould.
