The Role of Low-skilled Foreign Workers in the Process of Taiwan's Economic Development by Joseph S. Lee The basic principles of Taiwan's foreign labour policies in recent years are examined in this essay. This is done with reference to the changes in the role of Taiwan's foreign labour force in the Taiwanese economy. It also explores the challenges to the government's mechanisms for allocating foreign workers for designated industries and occupations. A discussion of the changes in labour policy stemming from the changeover of government in Taiwan is provided.
