ABSTRACT

As described in the previous chapter, WHO/GPA developed research protocols for KABP and sexual behaviour (Partner Relations) surveys. These research packages were designed to assist researchers in conducting population surveys at national or sub-national level. They consisted of a general introduction, guidelines on study design, including sampling, a model questionnaire, an interviewers' manual, a data management manual and guidelines on tabulation of data. This standardized approach was necessary to generate information that would be comparable between countries.
