ABSTRACT
This chapter outlines the response of a geography department to the challenges of expanding student numbers over recent years. It details the development of a project, initiated in October 1992, designed to explore ways of coping with larger class sizes without compromising a long-held commitment to innovative and imaginative forms of teaching.
