ABSTRACT

With growing student numbers and the more widespread availability of computer-based resources, conventional approaches to teaching and learning have often been criticized for their lack of ‘interactivity’. It is well known that computers, if used correctly, can have a highly motivating effect on student learning. It seems reasonable therefore that this technology should be used to support conventional teaching and learning activities and, at the same time, be used to develop new approaches. This chapter discusses some of the issues involved in realizing these goals.
