Lessons learnt: a case study in the assessment of learning outcomes

Since the mid-1980s, the faculty and administration of Clayton College & State University have been working to develop an effective system of student learning outcomes and assessment. Initially, the faculty and administration developed an elaborate system that proved to be too difficult to sustain effectively over time. The programme was carefully evaluated in the mid-1990s and has been redesigned extensively, based upon the lessons learnt from the initial attempt.
