ABSTRACT

The earlier chapters of this book have attended to reviewing selected studies of the superintendency and cognate areas with implications for policy and practice. In this chapter the focus is narrowed further to review some contemporary work regarding superintendents who have been identified as exemplary. While this group receives attention in this chapter, the reader will no doubt effect comparisons with superintendents in effective districts examined in Chapter 1, and with profiles of the national and effective groups of superintendents appraised in Chapter 2.
