ABSTRACT
This chapter discusses computational aspects of modelling. They include the question: ‘What is special about computers for modelling?’ and an analysis of the nature and characteristics of a variety of kinds of computational model. We conclude with a matter of particular concern for the present book, the design of a modelling system to support everyday practical reasoning about quantities.
