ABSTRACT

All too often children are exposed to violence within their own homes. This violence is not limited to what children see while playing video games, watching movies or the news, or in their own neighborhood or school. Rather, a great number of children are exposed to violence between their parents. There is now wide recognition among professionals who work with abused children and maltreating families that family violence, specifically interparental or intimate partner violence, is a problem of great magnitude that can significantly impact the short- and long-term development of children who are exposed to such violence in their homes.
