ABSTRACT
This paper reviews major tenets of Chester I. Barnard’s The Functions of the Executive (1938/1968). It then considers applicability of Barnard’s work to six papers in the special section of The Psychologist-Manager Journal (Lowman, 1999) by psychologists who have served as presidents of significant institutions.
