ABSTRACT
The role of college and university teaching requires professional choices by faculty members that pertain to such matters as course planning and course design, communication with a class, grading criteria for student assignments and examinations, in-class relationships with students, and course content. Most college and university faculty members possess considerable autonomy in making such professional choices.
