ABSTRACT

The living and learning connection was enhanced as the development of the theatre performances and rituals connected to the celebration was the focus of many of the theatre courses. The National Institute for the Arts in Taipei, Taiwan, was founded in 1982 to provide baccalaureate level degrees in the fine and performing arts. At the conclusion of the Ma Tsu festivities, the theatre students traveled back to campus to finish preparations for the school’s pilgrimage. The Music Department offered several concerts of both Western and Asian music. In the rehearsal halls of the Dance Department, the dance students presented their choreographed works. The Institute moved into its new buildings for the Fall term of 1991, and the new campus is an excellent facility, considered to be one of the finest in Asia. There are two large theatres on campus, one for the Dance and one for the Theatre Department.
